WoW Gold Guide: Profiting With The Fishing Profession

By Cheats on December 28th, 2009

Profiting with the Fishing Profession can be difficult if you do not have your Cooking skill leveled. There are a few select fish types which you can make a consistent income from, though it will not be nearly as much as if you were to sell the Cooked product.

For maximum profit, it is suggested you fish throughout Northrend, this is where the most sought fish can be gathered. Glacial Salmon / Musselback Sculpin / Nettlefish / Dragonfin Angelfish / Pygmy Suckerfish

A very easy and often quick way of gaining a profit in addition to gathering fish is completing the Fishing Daily, your reward is bound to be at least 7g and can be increased up to 100g, depending on the contents of the Bag of Fishing Treasures you are rewarded.

As with all fishing excursions, it is recommended you use a Fishing Lure to avoid wasted time fishing up Junk items.
Glacial Salmon

Used in Recipes: Firecracker Salmon / Fish Feast / Small Feast / Smoked Salmon

This fish is likely to be your most profitable raw product. While it is only used in a few recipes, they are all fairly widely used. Most casters use Spell Power for their food buff, you will make quite a profit from this fish.

This fish can be found in two zones throughout Northrend: in Schools along the rivers of Grizzly Hills; also fished in open water in Wintergrasp – you will be catching Musselback Sculpin, Nettlefish and Giant Darkwater Clams in addition to Salmon in this location.
Musselback Sculpin

Used in Recipes: Poached Northern Sculpin / Fish Feast / Grilled Sculpin

While not all melee type characters will find the Attack Power increase appealing for raiding, there is still a large enough demand for this fish. With how easily and quickly you can gather this fish, you are certain to profit nearly as much as with the Glacial Salmon.

This fish can be found in two zones throughout Northrend: in Schools located in lakes and ponds in Borean Tundra (primarily from Lake Kum’uya located just Southeast of Amber Ledge – 51, 44); also fished in open water in Wintergrasp – you will be catching Glacial Salmon, Nettlefish and Giant Darkwater Clamsin addition to Sculpin in this location.
Nettlefish

Used in Recipes: Spicy Blue Nettlefish / Fish Feast / Small Feast / Poached Nettlefish

With the possibility of all class types benefiting from this type of fish, with the Critical Strike increase, there is quite a demand for the raw product.

This fish can be found in two zones throughout Northrend: in Schools located in lakes and ponds in Sholazar Basin; also fished in open water in Wintergrasp – you will be catching Glacial Salmon,Musselback Sculpin and Giant Darkwater Clams in addition to Nettlefish in this location.
Dragonfin Angelfish

Used in Recipes: Blackened Dragonfin / Dragonfin Filet

While Dragonfin Angelfish is only used in two recipes, they still have a wide customer base. Almost all physical DPS classes, as well as most tanks, will favor the raw stat increase over plain Attack Power.

This fish can be found in two zones in Northrend: in Schools located off the southern coast of Borean Tundra; also, the river which borders Grizzly Hills (runs North from 92, 68) in Eastern Dragonblight, Lake Indu’le (39, 67) in Southern Dragonblight and along the waterfall located Northwest of Westwind Refugee Camp (12, 44) in Western Dragonblight.
Pygmy Suckerfish

Used in an Alchemy Recipe: Pygmy Oil

While this fish is not used to make food, it provides an easy and quick way to level Alchemy from 375 to 385. In addition, when the fish is processed into oil, it is used in various Alchemy recipes (Flask of Pure Mojo, Guru’s Elixir, Potion of Speed, Potion of Wild Magic), the Pygmy Oil is also known to be popular due to the change it does to your physical appearance when drank, up to 10 swigs of this oil and your character will be transformed into a pygmy. With this in mind, the processed version of this fish has potential profiting possibilities.

There is no best place to farm this fish, it can be caught anywhere in Northrend. Due to a higher droprate of fish from their respective schools, you are more likely to catch this fish outside of schools.

Fishing Dailies: Dangerously Delicious

By Cheats on November 28th, 2009

You are required to fish up 10x Terrorfish to complete this quest. Terrorfish can only be found in Wintergrasp waters. It is usually best to do this quest while the zone is not in conflict; most of the time Alliance will stick to their own side of the zone, as with Horde players, If you are Alliance you should not be bothered in the Eastern half of the zone. The Horde flightpath is on the West side of the zone, therefore the Western half of the zone is likely to be clear of Alliance players.

If the zone is in conflict, you may have difficulties finding an area where you will not be bothered. It is recommended that while the zone is in conflict, you fly in from the Southern boarder of the zone (From Icemist Village (12, 5) in Western Dragonblight) from here you will have plenty of room and little distraction.

You must then return the Terrorfish to Olisarra the Kind located at inside the “First to Your Aid” shop (53, 64) in Northwestern Dalaran. Olisarra will then reward you with: 1x Bag of Fishing Treasures, 250 Kirin Tor Rep.

Fishing Dailies: Blood is Thicker

By Cheats on November 28th, 2009

You are required to fish up 5x Bloodtooth Frenzy to complete this quest. The Bloodtooth Frenzy can only be fished up from the waters in Borean Tundra. Before you can fish in the open waters of Borean Tundra, you will need to kill an animal in order to get blood on your character. Killing any beast in the central area of Borean Tundra will grant you the “Animal Blood” debuff. The prime area is near Lake Kum’uya located (51, 44) in Central Borean Tundra. You can kill a Mammoth closeby, Northeastern side of the lake, once you have the debuff you need to wash it off in the water. The debuff will only last for 3 minutes, so make sure you jump in the water soon after killing an animal. When you jump into the water, it will then leave behind a Pool of Blood. Bloodtooth Frenzies can only be fished up from the Pools of Blood. If your Pool runs out before you can gather the 5 Frenzies, you can gain the debuff again by killing an animal and jumping in the water again.

Once you have caught your 5x Bloodtooth Frenzy, you must return them to Marcia Chase located at The Eventide (53, 64) in Southern Dalaran. Marcia will then reward you with: 1x Bag of Fishing Treasures and 250 Kirin Tor Rep.

Hunter Leveling Guide: Levels 61-70

By Cheats on November 7th, 2009

Levels 61 – 62

Speaking of flying around and leveling, what you know, we’ve arrived at level 62. I’m sure you can’t help bu notice that this is more of a skill-up level and you don’t learn any new skills or attacks.

We’ll skill up Explosive Trap (Rank 4). It doesn’t sound like much but couple Explosive Trap with Volley and it can make a pretty lethal combination for multiple mob pulls.

The other skill-up involves Steady Shot (Rank 2). Even though we use other shots in our rotation, Steady Shot is still our back bone and cooldown filler.

* Pet Tanking Build

Dungeon Quest Chains to Consider

* Dark Tidings – 20,100xp
* Weaken the Ramparts – (The Handguards of Precision and 20,100xp.)

Rare Pets

* No Rare Pets

Levels 63-64

Man that was a quick couple of levels, we’re moving right along. Thanks to completing a run through Ramparts and Blood Furnace we were able to get some great loot along with loads of experience.

Now we’ll head out to Zangarmarsh, the land of overgrown mushrooms, walking plants, and Naga, lots of Naga. While you’re questing in the marsh make some new friends, the Sporelings of Sporeggar for example. They need help defending their nursery from Bog Lords who have decided they make tasty hor’dourves. If you’re a hunter that cooks, they are an especially good reputation to get. They have the Sporeling Snacks. Trust me, your pet will love them even if they don’t taste that good (you have to eat them, not your pet).

Unfortunately, we still don’t get any shiny new skills, but we are able to skill-up Black Arrow (Rank 3) and Raptor Strike (Rank 9).

I know that many out there say that leveling and skilling up your melee skills are a waste of time. I agree in principle, but there are times that the best hunters I know still get caught in melee range and can get off at least 1 attack before they Disengage.

Dungeon Quest Chains to Consider

Heart of Rage (Blood Furnace) – Perfectly Balanced Cape and 20,800xp.

The Blood is Life (Blood Furnace) – 20,800xp. Go ahead and pick the Breastplate of Retribution to vendor. (Yes, I know it’s plate and we hunters can’t wear plate. Just take my word on it, every little bit helps when you’re trying to get your epic flying mount just that little bit quicker.)

Instances to Consider

* Hellfire Citadel: Hellfire Ramparts
* Hellfire Citadel: The Blood Furnace

Rare Pets

* No Rare Pets

Level 65 – 66

At level 66 we learn our first new skill since learning Tranquilizing Shot and Deterrence at level 60, Kill Command. Many think Kill Command isn’t that big a deal. I have to disagree.

I find gets a sense of satisfaction having my pet fully enraged with The Beast Within and hearing that growling chomp sound as Kill Command is cast. Not only do I enjoy seeing Elvis munching on some poor warlock, but I also get extra tingly knowing that a 60% damage bonus for any of my pet’s special attacks are going to be extra painful as well. (So you don’t think I forgot, the full 60% damage bonus is really on the first attack only. After that each attack is reduced by 20% seconds during the 30 seconds Kill Command is in effect.)

We also get to skill up Counteattack (Rank 4) and Immolation Trap (Rank 6).

Dungeon Quest Chains to Consider

* Bring Me a Shrubbery! (The Underbog) – 22,000xp (You have to love the Holy Grail reference.)
* Lost in Action (Coilfang Reservoir) – The Dark Cloak of the Marsh and 22,000xp.
* Oh, It’s On! (The Underbog) – 22,000 xp
* Safety is Job One (Mana Tombs) – 22,600xp

Rare Pets

* Goretooth (Nagrand)

Level 67-68

We’ve made it to level 68! Can you believe it? It’s been a crazy journey in Outlands and now we can make one not so tough decision. Do we stay and slog our way through more Burning Crusade content, or do we pack our bags and head back to Azeroth for the first boat heading out to the mounting battle with the Lich King and his armies in Northrend.

Before we go, we do learn some new skill-ups and one new attack as well.

At level 67 we were able to skill-up Multi-Shot (Rank 6), Serpent Sting (Rank 10) and Volley (Rank 4).

Then at level 68 we were able to skill-up Aspect of the Hawk (Rank 8) , Aspect of the Wild (Rank 3), and probably one of the more important ones, Mend Pet (Rank 8) .

We also learn a new skill, Snake Trap. Snake Trap is one of those traps that sometimes seems like it has a mind on its own. One minute the snakes are behaving and attacking the target you intended, then the next? Not a slithering bugger to be seen. At least not until you realize they’ve just decided to go off and attack another mob.

Even with this minor annoyance, Snake Trap is another great tool in our arsenal. By dotting multiple targets with some annoying interrupts and poisons.

New Hunter Skills

* Snake Trap

Dungeon Quest Chains to Consider

* Escape from Durnholde (Old Hillsbrad Foothills )
* Old Hillsbrad (Old Hillsbrad Foothills)
* Taretha’s Diversion (Old Hillsbrad Foothills)
* Nice Hat (Old Hillsbrad Foothills)

If we do all of these dungeon quests they’ll net us about 50,000xp just from the quest turn-ins. Plus we’ll end up with one really cool hat!

Instances to Consider

* Old Hillsbrad Foothills

Rare Pets

* No rare pets

Level 69 – 70

At level 69 we learn another skill that is critical to our class and distinguishes us from someone like say a warlock, than Misdirection. Once you learn Misdirection from the trainer, I highly recommend you practice using it on your pet all the time.

Use Misdirect to direct mobs and control mobs. You can use it to help your pet round up a bunch of mammoths your farming, anything at all, just use it and become very comfortable with it. The more comfortable you are at using Misdirection the easier it will be later on when you’re trying to save your healer. And everyone loves a hunter that knows how to misdirect and can save the healer and prevent a wipe.

Besides learning Misdirection you also learn Arcane Shot (Rank 9), Black Arrow (Rank 4), Aimed Shot (Rank 7), Explosive Shot (Rank 2), Mongoose Bite (Rank 5), and Wyvern Sting (Rank 4).

New Hunter Skills

* Misdirection

Hunter Talent Allocations

* Pet Tanking Build
* Traditional Build

* No new pet talents

Dungeon Quest Chains to Consider

You could do a handful of quests in Sethekk Halls, Shadow Labyrinth, and Black Morass and gain over 100k in experience.

But honestly, at this stage in the game don’t you are really want to be in Northrend working your way through Howling Fjord or Borean Tundra? You’ll get about the same amount of experience killing mobs along the way completing quests.

Instances to Consider

* Sethekk Halls
* Shadow Labyrinth
* Black Morass

Rare Pets

* Nuramoc (Netherstorm)

I’m not sure about you, but I know I’m ecstatic that we’ve finally reached level 70. That means only 10 more levels and we’ve reached the point of being able to run heroics, raids, and start gearing up for Icecrown.

Your gearing fresh dk tank

By Cheats on November 5th, 2009

Did your Death Knight just hit 80 and did you decide to follow the wonderful path that many of us have: Tanking
Well if you took the plunge you probably need a little help, with words and acronyms flying everywhere be it Avoidance,EH,Def,parrygib or anything of the sort you are confused, you are undergeared, and you need help. Well never fear Stangcobra is here.

So lets start with where the gear comes from and a stat overview
The majority of your gear will be coming from badges, however in order to get into heroics you need a def, or Defense of 540, note this is different from defense rating, this is shown in your character sheet as Defense. 540 defense renders you uncrittable against raid bosses. So you can see why this is important

Infinite Spirit Candles

By Cheats on November 4th, 2009

Unless my UI is completely bugged, Blizzard took the “Requires Day of the Dead” from the pet, mask, candles, and the bouquet. This means:

1. Pet is a permanent pet, and will probably soon be learnable from the item.

2. The mask is a permanent flavor mask.

3. The bouquet is a permanent flavor offhand, but only usable during event.

4. The candles are permanent, but are consumables.

This exploit is somewhat useless, but if you jump right after you select the location for a spirit candle, you don’t place one, but everyone around you gains the buff for 1 minute.

It’s no different than the campfire buff, in-fact a campfire refreshes this buff; BUT it’s instant cast. So, if you’re raiding and want a easy 4 spirit, you can use these throughout the fight.

Nothing big, or overly awesome. But cool nonetheless.
